News Brief: Augustana employee killed in duck boat accident

Augustana community member, Leslie Dennison, was among those killed when a duck boat sunk in Branson, MO. After changing its route, the boat capsized and sank as a storm and winds struck the lake. The fatal accident took 17 lives.
Dennison worked at Augustana as part of the dining services team for 38 years. In a note from the Presidents Office, Brad Foley said, “I have known Leslie for the past 20 years and in that time that we have worked together she had become more than just a supervisor. Leslie was a great friend, confidant, and resource. Leslie will be sorely missed by the Augustana Community.”
Leslie was nominated for and won the college’s highest employee service award in 2014.
A private memorial service with Dennison’s close friends will be held on Friday morning. The President’s Office has said there will be a remembrance planned on campus in the coming weeks but no event has been formally announced.
