Augustana women’s senior tennis player Hannah Colbert recorded her 100th career win against Monmouth College on Monday, April 13. With her achievement, she joins 31 other Augustana women’s tennis athletes in the exclusive “100 Win Club.”
Colbert drew within one win of the milestone after a doubles win with partner Anna-Maria Huebel before recording the milestone win in a singles victory at No. 1, claiming the sets 6-2 and 6-4.
Colbert said how placing her name on such a short list of athletes really shows the dedication she has put into the women’s tennis program.
“[Joining the ‘100 Win Club’] is physical proof of how much work I’ve put in for practically my whole life… It means so much, and it just shows the work I’ve put in.”
Although her 100th victory came in that singles match, Colbert also made sure to credit all of her doubles partners who helped her reach the feat.
“It wasn’t just singles wins, but the doubles wins as well,” Colbert said. “I’ve had a few [doubles partners] between graduating and just changing it up, but it’s also thanks to them… I wouldn’t be able to get there without doubles wins.”
Alongside her 100th win, Colbert was also named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week, Augustana’s second honoree of the season. The CCIW credited the accolade to not only her 100th win, but also her 2-0 record in singles and 2-1 record in doubles over the week.
With two more games on the women’s tennis schedule ahead of the CCIW Championships, Colbert will have a few more chances to climb up the list of total wins at Augustana before she closes out her career for the Vikings.
