    Muralist Heidi Sallows directs local artists with the Quad City Arts summer program on Sunday, July 22. “It’s kind of like raising a child,” Sallows said about teaching and guiding other artists.

    Local artists with Quad City Arts paint details on plants on the last day of their project. After nine days, the mural will be finished and ready for public viewing on Monday, July 23.

Heidi Sallows, mural artist originally from the Quad Cities area, noticed the decorations on the fence behind Fred and Ethel’s Antique Shop in Rock Island and wanted to incorporate that into the wall mural.
