Although Emory won the tip-off and got the first points of the game, the Vikings cruised to an early lead of 22 points at the end of the first half, leading 51-29.
The lead extended as the Vikings were hitting a majority of their three point shots and field goals. The Vikings hit seven of 12 three-point shots in the second and 13 of 26 field goals.
The Vikings showcased their strong rebounding skills, dominating the boards offensively and defensively with 44 total rebounds to Emory’s 29.
In addition, the Vikings were strong outside the three-point arc, hitting 13 of 21 three-point shots.
Senior Hunter Hill led the way for the Vikings in points, scoring 14 and was followed closely by Ben Ryan with 13, Tayvian Johnson with 12, and Griffin Pils with 11.
Tomorrow’s opponents, the St. Thomas Tommies, are 27-3. While the Tommies have a higher three-point average, 39.9 to Augie’s 38.8, the Vikings have a better rebound percentage, free throw percentage, and field goal percentage.
