Vikings Sweep Double Header Against Dubuque

After experiencing some crazy snow this weekend, the Vikings were only able to complete 2 out of the 4 scheduled games in the Augustana Invitational, but they were able to come away with 7-6 and 9-0 victories in both games against Dubuque.
The Vikings had a lot of success going into this weekend after starting the season off 11-3, and when talking to junior, Haley Ruch, she gave a lot of credit to momentum.
“Momentum is everything, especially with our team dynamic. We feed off of each other so much. This season has been very exciting, and we are definitely ready to be top competitors in conference with how our season is going so far,” Ruch said.
A key factor especially going into conference play is team chemistry, and when talking to Ruch, she says that the team is closer than ever.
“Our team chemistry is amazing. We get dinner together, do homework together, and just genuinely love spending time with each other. Being friends first makes being teammates and working together that much easier,” Ruch said.
Coach Kistler gave credit to both the offense and the defense for this weekend’s wins.
“Offensively we have found a nice mix of speed and power in our line-up. Our defense is also coming together and learning to stay strong when we lose momentum,” Kistler said.
Teams often prepare differently against different opponents but Coach Kistler gave a different approach.
“We don’t change what we are doing for our opponents. Our team is very hungry to win games and our approach is to compete in practice just like we compete in games,” Kistler said.
The Vikings look to keep the train moving as they open up conference play at North Park next Friday, March 30th.
