Men's soccer go 2-1 on weekend

After an 0-3 start to the season, the men’s soccer team has claimed two big wins to make them 2-3.
Their wins this past week came from their games against Lakeland University and Lake Forest Colleg.
The team is defeated Lakeland last Sunday and Lake Forest last Wednesday.
The men’s soccer team lost last year against Lake Forest 5-0, but now the soccer program is ramping up and is looking towards the rest of their season. Senior Ryan Curry was very happy with the result of this year’s game against Lake Forest.
“The game against Lake Forest was an exciting one,” Curry said. “I saw our tempo increase, the team connected more passes and we played for each other, rather than for individuals.”
This past Sunday, the team played Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. They lost 3-0. The team only had four shots while  Simpson had 25 shots.
Simpson scored two early goals in the secon and ninth minutes. The third goal against Augustana was in the 67th minute. From there, it was even la. No more goals were acheived by either team
The team is pulling itself together following the slow start of the season. The team is working more cohesively because of the players working together on the field, as well as the coaching staff.
Senior Michael Brazinski praised the coaches for their guidance, especially from what the team has grown from since the beginning of the year.
“The first few games of the year were a learning experience for us,” Brazinski said. “But with the help of our coaching staff, we are getting better every day. Our team chemistry is high and we hope to build on our recent wins”
As the team continues its season, team captain and senior Dominick Sullivan says they are doing well on offense but need to improve on the other major aspect of the game: defending.
“When we have the ball going forward, we look pretty good,” Sullivan said. “From what I can tell, we look as good offensively as we ever have, if not better. Defending as a team is troublesome.”
This week, the Vikings will be competing against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and against Robert Morris University this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Thorson-Lucken field.
