On Saturday, Oct. 18, the men’s and women’s wrestling teams competed in the Viking Dual, a beginning-of-the-season intrasquad meet where the Viking wrestlers competed against each other. Because many of the men’s teams’ seniors graduated last season, this meet was used to determine who would be in the top spots, while for the women’s team, it was about showcasing their talent and getting more spectators.
Among the returnees for the men’s team, junior Michael Macias brings back his experience after competing at the NCAA Nationals last season. Junior Moni Griffin and senior Aine Moffit, who both competed at Nationals last season, return to the women’s team in hopes of repeating their success. Both teams will open their season on Nov. 1 at the Pointer Open, an event hosted by UW-Stevens Point.
