Augustana and the city of Rock Island will be working together to create six new tennis courts at Lincoln Park, paid for by the college. On Feb. 27, the Rock Island City Council announced the construction of these tennis courts in place of the existing basketball and tennis courts. This proposal comes due to the increased need for parking related to the new pool in Lindberg.

The increased parking will be located where the current Augustana tennis courts are, behind Carlsson Evald Hall. Augustana’s tennis team will use the new tennis courts that will be built at Lincoln Park and will get priority use of the courts during tennis season.

This information is according to the city of Rock Island City Council minutes.
