This past Saturday in Waukesha, Wis., the women’s and men’s soccer teams fell to the Carroll University Pioneers, dropping the women’s record to 1-3 in the CCIW and the men’s to 0-3-1.
The women’s team was the first to challenge Carroll at 5 p.m., but fell 0-2,
In the beginning of the game, the Vikings had four shots-on-goal, but Carroll’s goal keeper got three of them. In the 20th minute of the game, the Pioneer’s Rachel Van Sluys scored the first goal with a 40-yard shot.
The Vikings had more shots-on-goal than the Pioneers in the first 45 minutes with five shots to the Pioneer’s four. In the 76th minute, the Pioneers scored another point by Delaney Pruitt when she found the upper right corner of the goal from 18 yards to put the Pioneers up 2-0 and win the game.
The Vikings offense struggled in the second half, only having a shot in the 83^rd minute and were defeated in shots-on-goals as the Pioneer’s had 11 shots to the Vikings 10.
The Vikings will face another CCIW opponent on Wednesday as they go against Wheaton College at 4.30 p.m. in Wheaton, Ill.
For the men’s soccer team, the Vikings managed to score one goal, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Pioneer’s two.  The Vikings dropped to 4-9-1 on the season.
The goals came in the 10th, 62nd and 76th minute of the game. In the 10th minute, Carroll got their first goal by Caden Pruitt with the help by Bryan Nagy and Tyler Coenen.
In the 62nd minute, the Vikings found their way onto the scoreboard with a goal by seniors Dominick Sullivan and Michael Brazinski.
In the 76th minute, the tie was broken as Carroll got their second goal to put them up and over the Vikings 2-1.
The men’s team will also play Wheaton College on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. at Wheaton.
