Augustana’s Women’s Basketball team will be playing against Illinois Wesleyan on the twentieth. The game will be held at the Carver Center at 7:00 p.m. Augustana will also be hosting Milikin at 5:00 p.m. on the twenty third.

So far Augustana’s team has won seven games out of eighteen. The two teams are almost an even match with Illinois Wesleyan only winning nine of eighteen games and Millikin with seven of eighteen.

Senior Andrea McNally has confidence that the team will do well against the other conference teams this season.

I wouldn’t say this game will be easier or harder.” said McNally, “Our conference is extremely competitive and any team is capable of beating another on any given night. However, I feel confident in our team this year and feel we’ll be a lot more prepared to take on IWU.”

McNally also mentioned their strongest ability against an opposing team, “Our team’s biggest strength right now is our versatility.” she said, “We have a lot of newcomers this year and all of them are very skilled and hardworking. Our versatility creates a great atmosphere for competitiveness in practice and games.”

Women’s Basketball has added a few new faces onto their roster and they have learned a lot about the standards of college basketball.

“Since conference season started, there has been a growth in maturity with our team.” said McNally, “Conference play is a lot different than games earlier in the season and I think our younger players are getting used to the speed and intensity of conference.”

Not only have the new players learned a thing or two, but the overall team has become stronger,

Throughout the season, we’ve had to learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses on the court.” said McNally. “This has made us a stronger unit and more cohesive in games. Conference is a battle every year but with this group, I’m extremely confident every time we step out on the court.”
