Bell hired as head football coach

Steve Bell was announced as the Vikings new head football coach on Jan. 9 at a press conference in the Kent Anderson Academic All-America Club.
Bell replaces former head coach Rob Cushman who resigned in December with an ending season record of 17-23. Bell leaves behind an overall record of 112-44 as head coach at Monmouth.
At Monmouth, Bell helped the Scots to win four Midwest Conference championships in 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2011, with six second place finishes. This past season, Monmouth finished 8-2 overall, under Bell’s guidance.
Bell has also accumulated other honors in the coaching arena, such as winning the Midwest Conference “Coach of the Year” title five times.
Since 1992, Bell has coached at the collegiate level, starting as an assistant coach at Bemidji State University in Minn. With 23 years of coaching under his belt, Bell will assume the head coaching position in preparation for the Vikings’ season this coming fall.
