Augie Reads selects 2014 LSFY book

The Augie Reads book for fall of 2014 will be “The Round House” by Louise Erdrich.
The LSFY faculty, English department and Augie Reads Committee selected the book to be used for Fall Connection and LSFY101 classes. The fall symposium day will connect to the book.
“The Round House” won the National Book Award for fiction in 2012. The book takes place in a North Dakota Ojibwe reservation in 1988.
Erdrich, an Ojibwe person, takes readers into the life of a teenage boy who seeks justice after a family attack on the reservation. There are themes of family, justice, love and crime.
Erdrich is an acclaimed writer for the second wave of the Native American Renaissance and her  book, “The Plague of Doves,” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
