The Augustana Athletic Department has selected David Thompson as the next women’s Track, Field, and Cross-Country head coach. Thompson will serve as long time coach Fred Whiteside’s replacement, who served the women Vikings for nearly 33 years.
Thompson, a 1999 graduate of North Central College, previously served under Whiteside as an assistant coach. His athletes broke three school records and made three national qualifying marks. At his previous positions, atheletes under Thompson’s instruction set a cumulative 32 school records and qualified for nationals in numerous other instances.
