Katniss Everdeen is back, and she is bringing the wrath of District 13.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” was released in theaters Nov. 22, featuring a challenging and relevant depiction of a violent society.
This movie begins right where “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” left off. Katniss is in search of Peeta, and the districts are in revolt against the capital.
Katniss is tucked away in District 13, while President Alma Coin, played by Julianne Moore, declares war on the Capitol. Katniss’ main concern is that her beloved Peeta is returned to the District safely, as he was captured and held captive in the Capitol.
In this movie, Katniss is asked to be the face of the rebellion against the Capitol.
Jennifer Lawrence does not disappoint as the headstrong defiant leader of the film. The dedication she has to portraying Katniss shines through as she fights for freedom.
Along with Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, who plays Gale, and Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, both captivate audiences with their fierce love for the girl on fire.
Katniss is chosen to take on the face of the uprising. As they train Katniss into convincing her followers to rebel, District 13 realizes they are doing all the wrong things.
What finally convinces the public to fight is the fact that Katniss show the humanity of the situation. Katniss is able to show how innocent people are being murdered, and it is their job to stop such a heartless act.
This aspect of the movie really mirrors society today.
We are caught in a world where we have to see things to believe them.
It is difficult for us to understand the pain of something if we have not been a part of it personally.
This film does a magnificent job of communicating with the humanity of certain situations, and although this is not a real story, it can easily be related to our society today.
Despite the film meeting novel and movie fans’ expectations, it still seems unnecessary to split into two parts.
The next movie in the series, “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” is set to be released in theaters November 2015.
