Preview: Fair Trade announces new reusable mug program

Before musician Rachel Brown performs, social awareness group Fair Trade will be having its own concert to raise awareness for the debut of their reusable hand-made mug wall in the Brew on Friday at 7 p.m.
According to Fair Trade President Anissa Pemberton, junior Alicia Strtak, sophomore John Stenger, senior Andrew Boucek and senior Teodoro Alonso-Emanuel will all be performing to raise awareness for the program that will unveiled Friday at 7 p.m., an hour before Brown performs.
Pemberton said that the Art department made the reusable mugs last year, and the Brew staff will be in charge of making sure they are washed.
“I don’t think we are ever going to eliminate paper mugs,” said Pemberton. “People need to go places…I would think (having reusable mugs) would raise awareness about how much we consume and don’t think about how much we are consuming, and so maybe more people would be inclined to bring their own mug or maybe even bringing their own travel carrier.”
