Sophomore Matthew Stevens was appointed to the Student Government Association March 3 by unanimous voice vote. Stevens, now a senator for SGA, is a pre-medicine major, is a member of the Augustana Interfaith group, Rho Nu Delta fraternity and special events committee in OSL.
“I have known Matt for a couple of years now,” said sponsor Justin Choate, a senior and political science and history major. “He is also in the Rho Nu Delta fraternity with me and recently he has taken a lot of leadership within the group, and it has been pretty impressive. He works very hard in everything he does and steps up when other people won’t.”
Stevens looks forward to expanding his involvement into yet another aspect of Augustana life on campus. The newly appointed senator said, “I hope to affect the whole campus instead of just my own groups.”
Stevens has begun working with the administration committee with the intent of improving communication between students and administrators.
In regards to his future in SGA, Stevens said, “If I feel like the club deserves to get fundraising, then I want to help them out.”
