Despite their fourth quarter efforts, the Vikings lost to Carthage at the Carver Center with a final score of 65-72 on the night.
The game began by recognizing three Augustana seniors: forward Marissa Pezzopane, guard and captain Andrea McNally, and student assistant Natalie Tomerlin. Pezzopane finished off with nine points and eight rebounds. McNally is currently out with an injury.
Augustana trailed and played catch up most of the contest against the Lady Reds. Junior forward Kaycee Kallenberger was the leading scorer for the Vikings with 15 points and 15 rebounds to match. Junior Jen VanWatermuelen was a close second putting up 14 points, including two back to back three-pointers in the third quarter.
Augustana will split conference play with Carthage going 1-1. The Vikings beat Carthage 56-51 in the team’s last match up on Jan. 16.
The lady Vikes are now 10-12 overall and 5-6 in the CCIW. Augustana plays away at Illinois Wesleyan in its next match-up at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10.
