Tragedy struck at Purdue University when Andrew Boldt, a senior from Wisconsin, was shot and killed by a fellow student on Tuesday morning.
The Augustana Editorial Staff would like to extend its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Boldt as well as to the entire Purdue University for this tragic and sudden loss.
As our own campus debates and draws near to a decision about arming our Public Safety officers, we hope that Augustana College will keep tragedies like this one in mind.
While the event at Purdue University appeared not to be an attempted mass shooting, it was an act of violence with tragic consequences nonetheless.
As we continue to hear of more school shootings and random acts of violence, we’d like to remind the Augustana community that a little kindness can go a long way.
We challenge the campus to keep tragedies like this in mind and move forward with compassion to keep Augustana a safe and supportive environment.
