Augustana’s Cabinet will continue the development of a proposal in support of an armed presence on campus.
In a campus-wide email, Dean of Students Evelyn Campbell condensed the various opinions expressed in the campus forums into a summarized list which includes the fear of inappropriate use of the weapons, comfort or discomfort with who would be carrying a gun, the belief that an armed presence would likely save lives in the event of a shooting and the belief that having weapons on campus is fundamentally wrong.
The proposal will be presented to the Board of Trustees in late January for a final decision.
