Midterms, finals, three-hour car rides and crashing ticket-selling websites were not going to stop this group of dedicated fans from enjoying the newest installment of Star Wars which premiered in theaters on Dec. 17.
Fans lined up as much as 3 hours early on Wednesday night, excited to see the new movie that most of them are calling “amazing.”
One couple admits they drove from Wisconsin to be with friends, after buying their tickets months ago.
“I drove about 3 and a half hours just to be down here.” said Matt Huniker, a fan who attended with his fiance.
With Midterms in full effect, some Augustana students even brought their study guides and flashcards.
“I am studying for a physics exam I have tomorrow,” said junior Luther Gruke who said he has deleted social media apps in anticipation for the movie in order to avoid plot spoilers.
Most fans at the Davenport premiere say they bought their tickets back in October despite complications with the popular ticket selling website Fandango.
“We bought (tickets) the day after they came out. I came up here and bought them just cause I heard about Fandango and everything crashing.” said Star Wars fan Greg Boden.”
