1. What are some team goals this season?
“Some of our team goals were to finish in third or fourth place in the conference tournament, for everyone to learn how to “eat their elephant” meaning to play the round one shot at a time, and for everyone to lower their personal average from last season.”
2. Why did you choose Augustana golf, instead of another school/golf program?
“I chose Augustana golf because of the personableness of the players of the team before me. Everyone seemed relaxed and extremely supportive of one another, but it still was a competitive environment.”
3. As one of the leaders on the team, how would you describe your primary role?
“As leaders on the team, Sam and I tried to focus on being supportive of all the players on the course. We tried to keep the attitude as positive as possible for the team, which hopefully helped them be supportive of one another as well.”
4. What has been the biggest learning moment for you out on the course and why?
“The biggest learning moment for me came during a round in the fall of my junior year. I played with someone who scored lower than myself but whose attitude hurt her overall performance, getting upset over every missed shot she had. I learned that I needed to start playing with a “one shot at a time mentality,” which has significantly helped my game. Keeping my composure and not letting every problem get to me is a quality I hope to continue to have throughout other aspects of my life.”
5. What are your feelings about how the CCIW championships turned out?
“I am extremely proud of the way we played at the conference tournament. One of the goals for the season was to have five scores in the 80s at conference, and on our last day, we accomplished that. Our underclassmen, 4 out of the 6 of us, really stepped up for a difficult course with unfriendly weather. On the last day we finished on a high note, and it was great to see the girls persevere.”
6. If you had to pick one thing you will miss about Augie golf, what would it be and why?
“My teammates. Everyone is so supportive of each other and we are friends both on and off the course. At most of our tournaments, we are definitely the team with the biggest personality, as after the round we are being loud and laughing and joking around with each other. I wouldn’t have wanted to play golf with a different group of girls throughout these four years. They are really amazing people.”
