Augustana College President Andrea Talentino said in a campus-wide email sent Saturday, Jan. 27, that an Augustana College student has died.
According to a statement from Nicole Lauer, Augie public relations and marketing specialist, police arrived at Westerlin Hall in response to a 911 call shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. The student was found dead, and the investigation was concluded while police were on the scene.
The student’s family has been notified by the Rock Island Police Department.
Counseling and spiritual resources will be available for students and faculty throughout the weekend as well as into the coming week, Talentino said. In addition, Talentino said she will be available in the You Belong Lounge at various times throughout the day on Saturday to speak with and support members of the community.
