This past Saturday, the men’s golf team finished third over nine teams in the Viking Fall Shootout at Fyre Lake Golf Club in Sherrard, Ill.
The Viking’s shot for 328 points as a team, which was behind the winners, St. Ambrose, who had two teams. St. Ambrose’s first team finished with 307 points and their second team finished with 317 points.
Junior Gabe Askam finished in first place both for the Vikings and the shootout with a 75, which was five above par.
Senior Tanner Obal finished second for the team with a tie for 17th, while fellow senior Michael Jacobs tied for 20th. Freshman Cory Jayne shot an 86 and tied for 24th, while senior Eric Swanson shot an 88 to finish 30th.
The shootout marks the end for the men’s fall season, but the team will start their new season in spring.
