Vandalism incidents against a blue Ford Excursion from the past two weeks are still going under investigation by Public Safety and the Rock Island Police Department.
In an email, Chief of Public Safety/Police Tom Phillis detailed the offenses that occurred against the vehicle. The vehicle had its tires slashed on Sunday Sept. 11. In the morning of Sept. 13, the vehicle was damaged with spray paint. The last incident happened on Sept. 26, where the windshield and driver’s window were broken with a rock.
“There have been multiple acts of vandalism to a vehicle on college property by a suspect known to the owner of the vehicle,” said Chief Phillis in an email.
Sophomore Joshua Murray currently lives in the Anderson apartments, adjacent to Lot J, witnessed the car after all of the vandalism was inflicted, but doesn’t know who’s car it belonged to.
“[The car] was removed rather quickly I thought, for this school at least,” Murray said, referring to the fact that the car was removed out of the parking lot on Sept. 26.
Anyone with information about these events should call the Office of Public Safety at 309-794-7711.
Public Safety will be enforcing parking regulations in Lot J immediately. The first two rows are reserved for students who purchased a parking that reside in the Anderson and Bartholomew apartments. These spaces for students are reserved 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
