Men’s cross country came in second this weekend at the 55th Les Duke Invitational at Grinnell College. Augustana finished with of 78 points in the 8K race, which was 25 points behind first-place Wartburg College.
Augustana had four runners finish within the top twenty of the 234 runners participating in the meet. Junior Mitchell Johnson had the team’s best time with a 28:19.8 finishing time which landed him fourteenth on the leaderboards and eleventh place. Fellow junior Alan Daly finished right behind Johnson with a 28:27.0. Sophomore Brandon Wilkerson and senior Steve Lavelle were also in the top twenty, finishing in 17th and 20th place respectively.
Finishing up the top five for the Vikings was Rob Williams who finished in 28th place and scored 24 points for the team with a time of 28:49.
Men’s cross country next races at Saukie Golf Course for the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational which is their only home meet of the 2016 season. The race will be on Friday, Sept. 23.
