The City of Rock Island has received several payments from seniors in off-campus housing for their water bills without the proper identification to where the money is going, such as missing bill stubs, paying in cash or not including account numbers. The money sent in gets put into an “unidentified bin” with these bills not being paid off.
Dean of Students Evelyn Campbell forwarded this information to students, as the city has received enough cash from addresses around the college.
Senior Emilie Antolik admits that sending in her first payment was “a little awkward at first” because she had never filled out a check before, but was fortunate to have the help of a faculty member to assist her.
Campbell said that “part of Augustana’s goal is to prepare our students for success in all aspects of the ‘real world’, including living independently”.
Students that are getting billed for payments they already paid must contact the City of Rock Island Immediately to address the issue.
