The Observer sat down with men’s lacrosse captain Jerrell Collymore to discuss the team’s season and goals.
1. What are some goals for the team this season, and has the team accomplished any?
“Our goal as a team is to win a CCIW championship. We also want to make it to the NCAA tournament and go as far as we can once we get there.”
2. As a senior, what is the biggest lesson that Augie lax has taught you?
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned from Augie lax is work hard and good things will happen.”
3. As of now, who is the toughest upcoming opponent the team will face and why?
“Right now the toughest opponent we have left on our schedule is Illinois Wesleyan.”
4. If you could switch places with anyone on the team for one game, who would it be and why?
“I wouldn’t switch places with anyone on the team. I have a very unique position within the game that I really enjoy.”
5. Describe the best moment you have had on the field in your four years thus far.
“Best moment I’ve had on the field thus far was scoring my first goal this year against Benedictine.”
6. What’s one thing the Augustana community might not know about the team?
“The Augustana community only gets to see the outcome of our games, but they don’t get to see all of the hard work and preparation that goes into playing at a high level.”
7. What’s it been like having a new coach for your senior season?
“At times it’s been very challenging with learning new schemes and plays as a senior. It certainly has been different than what we were used to.”
8. What will you miss most about playing Augie lax?
“I’m definitely going to miss being a part of something bigger than myself and overall just having the opportunity to play games at the college level.”
9. Although you are graduating, what do you think the future looks like for the team?
“We have some very talented young players on the team. I think that if they work hard and we recruit another strong recruiting class, they can continue to make great strides in building this program into a dominant one.”
