Despite having the lead for most of the game, the women’s basketball team lost 61-72 in the final minutes against an evenly matched Loras team at the Carver Center.
The Vikings started off strong and led the Duhawks throughout the first half, finishing 35-27 at halftime. In the third, Loras took over with 22 points to Augustana’s 17. In the fourth, Loras put 23 points on the board, while the Vikings only managed nine.
Of Augustana’s 61 points, senior Marissa Pezzopane and junior Jenn VanWatermeulen each contributed 12 points as the Vikings highest scorers on the night. Junior Mikayla Fallon chipped in 10, and junior Olivia Mayor added nine.
The team will play next on Monday, December 7 away at Monmouth at 7 p.m.
