Tonight, our team was invited to the Final Four banquet dinner inside the Salem Civic Center. We ate extremely well, yet again, with turkey, potatoes, steamed carrots, and delicious bread rolls (which Tayvian might be obsessed with). The banquet was nicely done, as all four teams ate together, watched an introduction highlight video, and a Q & A with a player and head coach from each team. I was fortunate enough to be the player from our team to speak and answer questions about our trip and the wonderful support we have received this year.
Coach G. also answered questions about our team and how we have been through so much as a team; from our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Brazil, to our exhibitions against Iowa and Bradley, to our raucous crowd in the Carver Center during the NCAA tournament. We’ve been through it all as a team, especially the juniors and seniors, who have worked incredibly hard to get to where we are today. But, our remarkable journey is not finished; we have two more games to play in order to arrive at our destination of a national championship.
This is a written account by Augustana junior guard and multimedia journalism major Jake Norcia as he takes us with Augustana basketball on their journey to Salem, Va., the site of the Division III Men’s Final Four.
