What to do in the QC this holiday season

A Christmas Carol – Dec. 12-21
The District Theatre, 1611 2nd Ave in Rock Island, presents “A Christmas Carol.” The Theatre is adapting Charles Dickens’ novel, and the play will follow an old man’s memories of Scrooge. A series of strange journeys reveal a cast of colorful characters, leading to the discovery of the true spirit of Christmas. The shows are Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes early and are $20.
Gallery Hop! Dec. 12
The Downtown District of Rock Island is offering a free “Gallery Hop!” from 6 to 9 p.m. Walk from business to business, to find holiday gifts by local artists in over 20 different businesses. Food and beverages will be offered. Take the free shuttle or walk.
Frightmare before Christmas – Dec. 12
The Factory of Fear in Moline will present a twist on Christmas spirit. The Fear Technicians will haunt your holidays with creepy rooms to walk through and new characters, inclduing Twitch Klaus, who will be available for a free photo opportunity. Tickets are $15 and limited. Save $3 at the door by bringing in a new or unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.
Handel’s “Messiah” – Dec. 13-14
The Handel Oratorio Society will perform George Frederic Handel’s classic, “Messiah.”  Performances are Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. in Augustana College’s Centennial Hall. The performance will feature 250 voices in the Handel Oratorio Society’s chorus and the 60-member Symphony.   For ticket information, contact the Augustana College Ticket Office at (309) 794-7306.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra – Jan. 4
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform their new rock opera, “The Christmas Attic” on Jan. 4. Two performances will be at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the iWireless Center in Moline. Tickets are available at the iWireless Center Box Office or online.
