Augustana Symphonic Band prepare for annual fall concert

After weeks of preparation, Augustana band students are set to perform selections by Ticheli, Whitacre and more. The Symphonic Band will be hosting their annual concert on Nov. 1, at 8 p.m.
“The fall concert for Symphonic Band is going to be a concert for everyone, said Erika Sodergre, who plays trumpet in the band. “We have a great selection of music from Yagisawa and Hindemith to Ticheli and Whitacre. These composers offer a wide range of music for the audience to enjoy.”
Director James Lamberchet said the Symphonic Band rehearses four days a week.
The band was created in 1874, with a vision of performing wind music of the highest quality.
The Symphonic Band is made up of the most dedicated wind musicians, and the band expects a lot from their performers. These musicians come from a variety of majors, but they all share a passion for music.
The Symphonic Band is very well-respected around the country. Every year they take a Symphonic Band tour and travel to 32 states. This allows for the band to make appearances throughout the country to showcase their talents, and to view the talents of other bands.
“We are very excited to share our hard work at the annual fall concert,” said Katie Morton, who plays percussion in the band.
This concert allows the symphonic band to show off their progress this far in the school year. The musicians said they take great pride in what they have accomplished.
Throughout the school year, the Symphonic band gives 20 performances on and off campus. This gives the band the ability to share their talents consistently with the community.
The performance in Centennial Hall on Nov. 1 is free and open to the public.
