Michaelson stuns with album "It Doesn't Have to Make Sense"

Singer songwriter Ingrid Michaelson is back at it again with her stunning new album, “It Doesn’t Have To Make Sense.” Michaelson won over fans in the early 2000s with songs such as “You and I” and “Everybody.” From cheerful ukulele songs to heart wrenching  ballads, Michaelson pretty much does it all. After much anticipation, “It Doesn’t Have To Make Sense” was released in late August, leaving fans completely awe stricken.
Michaelson is no stranger to heartbreak, as made evident in her newest album. Perhaps the most beautiful and also most painful song on the entire album is her simple piano ballad, “I Remember Her,” a tribute to her mother who died of an illness in 2014. The song depicts childhood memories that Michaelson and her mother shared through heartfelt lyrics such as, “She would sing me lullabies, gave me my hazel eyes, and then she’d call me beautiful, she made me beautiful.” The touching lyrics combined with Michaelson’s delicately raw voice make for a truly unforgettable song.
Although there is a fair amount of pain present throughout the album, Michaelson still manages to give the audience upbeat pop songs such as “Hell No” and “Whole Lot of Heart” that are sure to put a smile on your face. “Hell No” empowers listeners with catchy melodies and lyrics like “Am I gonna miss you? Hell no baby watch me up and go.”
“It Doesn’t Have to Make Sense” is a perfect mix of upbeat songs to play in the car, and beautiful melodies that make you want to cry. Michaelson has delivered once again, and this is one album you have to listen to.
