Bar Wars: Barrel House

Walking down 5th Avenue, Barrel House-Moline has always attracted my attention. It’s incredible menu is perfectly paired with local and national brewery selections, along with well-mixed cocktails. While I have my own personal favorites, there’s something for everyone. As someone who likes to try new things, the variety gives me options I wouldn’t have elsewhere.

While it doesn’t give off a club-style vibe, it’s the perfect place to watch a Blackhawks game or gather with friends for a casual experience. I personally dislike having to get gussied up to go somewhere. I’d rather just stay in jeans, and at Barrel House, I can.

It’s not just the menu that’s attractive either. Barrel House has a beautiful open floor concept with vaulted ceilings, which allows for easy maneuverability and a community feel. I never feel claustrophobic, which is often a concern in smaller joints.

I’ll admit, food is still an important factor when I pick a favorite bar. If I’m going to have a glass of beer, it better be paired with a ridiculously good burger. At Barrel House, I’m never disappointed. The service has always been great, and while the wait can be a little long (depending on the night), it’s a necessary evil.

Some might be critical of a chain, but Barrel House keeps its rustic charm at all locations, alongside that killer selection of food and drink options. Each location has their own quirky decorations while keeping the environment the same. While it may get a little loud, I’ve never gotten into a shouting match with my server.

Whether I’m there for game day, a bite to eat, or a fun time at the bar, I always seem to gravitate to Barrel House. Its versatile setting as a bar and restaurant is appealing to all. I highly recommend it.
