German Resturant Bierstube Hosting Oktoberfest

While out looking for a great bite to eat in the QC with friends and family, Bierstube was an easy choice for me.
The restaurant hosting their Oktoberfest event the past two weekends between their Moline, IL, and Le Claire, IA, locations was only the icing on the cake.
Already known for their cultural German theme and atmosphere, the festivities could only add to the quality of the food and drinks which were brought out amongst various cultural events and musical groups imported from both Germany and Austria.
Just for fun, as an appetizer we ordered the unbreaded calamari ($10) not something one really sees at a German restaurant, but it came out surprisingly well.
I chose the sausage dinner ($11) this time around, choosing the Cheddarwurst and Bavarian Bratwurst as my main entrée. For my first time choosing this particular meal, it was an attempt to try more than one new thing in the spirit of everything occurring for the Oktoberfest celebration.
Not only was the sausage as excellent as I expected, the spaetzle I also decided to try was an interestingly chewy contrast to the meat.
Though I ate inside, away from the wind and the events, it was impossible not to hear the music sorting and laughter coming front outside.
After thoroughly enjoying the food, I decided it was finally time to go outside and join the festivities.
Between log cutting, pop andpolka music fusion, a conga line, leg wrestling, a dancing chicken, and toasts every five minutes, it was a little bit of a downer to remember that I was still in the middle of the QC, not even a little closer to being back in Germany.
Though the Oktoberfest event only takes place for two weekends of the year, if this event is any inclination to the spirit behind every event they host, it’s always bound to be a good time.
For those looking for an inexpensive place to go with friends to escape the usual Americana food that’s easy to find right around campus, a short bus ride or drive out to Moline opens up plenty of great restaurants including Bierstube.
Though there may be several less expensive restaurants nearer to campus, there are certainly none that have the same cultural flair as the QC’s taste of typical German cuisine.
The next event will be their Dogtoberfest, at the Le Claire location this Sunday, Oct. 10.
